Monkhouse – Get Over It

Former Swindon Town defender Andy Monkhouse has told the fans he was upset that he never wanted to leave Swindon, just a month after saying he wanted a permanent move to Hartlepool.

Monkhouse went on to explain that he never chose to leave Swindon and fell just short of saying the fans should have given him a huge standing ovation although he was only at Swindon 7 months and spent a good portion of that time injured.

‘I was a bit disappointed with the reception.’ Monkhouse said.

There is no doubt Monkhouse was a decent player whilst at Swindon but it appears that Monkhouse himself feels he was a main reason for the club currently being in second palce

‘I’ve always thought I’d done alright when I played for Swindon.

Monkhouse went on to explain he didn’t want to move although just a month ago he was quoted as saying he would like a move to Hartlepool on a permanent basis, this prior to being told if he wanted to go, he could go.

‘I didn’t ask for a move. I got told to go on loan, went on loan, did well and the club really said you can go if you want. I didn`t feel wanted at all. I feel wanted at Hartlepool and that’s why I went.’ onkhouse said.

‘I don’t see why I couldn’ have done it here but a new manager came in and didn`t fancy me.

‘It didn’t feel the same (after Dennis Wise).

Monkhouse tried to justify his self-serving celebration that did nothing more than wind the fans up after scoring the winner against his former club on Saturday.

He said: ‘It was a bit funny with the fans but I’m sure I’ve shut a few of them up now.

‘If they want to give me stick, why can’t I give it back?

‘There’s no problem on my behalf but I thought I would have got a better reception really.’

Please Andy Monkhouse, put your toys back in the pram and move on, what is the point of complaining about why the fans didn`t cheer you?

If we look at the facts, Swindon are second in the league and that is the case even though Monkhouse has not been in the team.

Most footballers would be reflecting on the goal that put them up with the league leaders as opposed to slating the fans that paid their wages for the 7 months you were here.
