League Two side York City have made a bid to sign transfer listed striker Alan Connell from Swindon Town.

Connell, Town`s top goal scorer last season was made available for transfer earlier on this week and has attracted interest from sides in both League One and League Two.

Connell is thought to prefer a move down south due to family reasons, one of the main reasons he left Grimsby as well as a move to a League One club.

The League Two new boys are also keen to re-sign Jonathan Smith who left York City for Swindon Town last summer.

Connell and Smith will not travel with Swindon when they begin their pre-season tour of Italy next week.
