First poll for the Vital Swindon End of Season Awards is the Loan Player of the Year Award.
The award went to Simon Ferry last year for his great work while on loan from Celtic. Town eventually secured his services on a permanent basis.
Who deserves it this season?
CALVIN ANDREW (Crystal Palace)
Huffed and puffed throughout his loan stay at the club. Nobody could fault his workrate during his spell at the club.
DAVID BALL (Manchester City)
Promising youngster joined in the Summer as part of Manchester City’s promise of providing a loan player after Swindon sold Alex Henshall to the Blues.
Ball spent most of his Town career playing out of position. He showed glimpses of that promise but returned to Manchester City in January and then joined Peterborough United on a permanent basis soon after.
ANDY FRAMPTON (Millwall)
The Millwall defender helped break Town hearts at Wembley last summer but joined Swindon to fill the void left when Gordon Greer left to join Brighton.
MIKE GRELLA (Leeds United)
Easily one of Town’s best players when he was on the pitch. Had Danny Wilson remained or had he not have fallen out with Paul Hart the end of the season run-in could have been different. Probably not but his exit was less than ideal.
MATT RITCHIE (Portsmouth)
Attacking midfielder impressed so much during his loan spell than it was eventually made permanent by the club.
