Swindon Town welcome Wycombe Wanderers to the County Ground on Boxing Day and hope to finally be able to shut down former Town striker Tommy Mooney.

Vital Quotes:

‘We have got the hardest Christmas and New Year that any club will have. We have to keep ourselves in touch, but I will reiterate to the fans that we will start to develop a hardness within the side and the right attitude will prevail.’

– Town manager Paul Sturrock

Swindon Town Team News:

Swindon Town will welcome back Christian Roberts and Jack Smith, both who served a one game suspension against Macclesfield. Swindon could be without Paul Evans and Sofiene Zaaboub who both picked up injuries against Macclesfield. Royce Brownlie could also return after regaining match fitness after picking up an injury against Mansfield.

Player to watch: Christian Roberts

Town did not look like scoring at Macclesfield and with Roberts pace back in the side, they should look more effective.

Wycombe Wanderers Team News:

Wycombe currently sit 2 points behind Swindon and 5th place overall in the League 2 table. Wycombe beat Premiership side Charlton Athletic in the week and could name an unchanged side from the team that beat Stockport 2-0 yesterday.Sam Stockley will miss the game with a hamstring injury. Russell Martin will take his pace in defence. Sergio Torres and former Swindon Town goalkeeper Frank Talia will miss the match with knee injuries.

Player to watch: Tommy Mooney

Mooney came back to haunt Town at Adams Park earlier in the season infront of over 1,500 travelling Swindon fans. The Town fans were chanting ‘MOONEY WHAT’S THE SCORE’ as Town lead 1-0 and Mooney converted a late goal to ensure that Wycombe got a share of the points.

Match Facts & Stats

Town have played Wycombe twice this season. LEAGUE TWO: Wycombe 1 – 1 Swindon Town. JOHNSTONE’S PAINT TROPHY: Wycombe 1 – 0 Swindon Town. Should Wycombe win they will leapfrog Swindon in the standings.

Match Prediction:

This is a hard match to predict. Swindon face 2 of the top teams over Christmas (Wycombe and MK Dons), Town need to win atleast one of these games to stay up there. This game has draw written all over it but with a big crowd at the County Ground we will predict 2-1 Swindon Town.
