Swindon Town travel to League 2 lead leaders Walsall tomorrow in a first versus third clash at Bescot Stadium

Vital Quotes:

‘I think we`ve got the character and ability to cause an upset.’

– Swindon Town Manager Paul Sturrock

Walsall Team News:

Walsall currently sit top of League 2 and 10 points above Swindon. A win tomorrow will put them 13 points above the favourites going into the season Swindon Town. Defender Anthony Gerrard could feature after making his return in a midweek reserve match. Former Town target Mark Kinsella could make his final appearance for Walsall after agreeing to join Charlton’s coaching staff. Charlton have been very good to Walsall by not demanding Kinsella join them right away. Kinsella is expected to join Charlton on Monday.

Player to watch: Martin Butler

Butler has been named ‘possibly the best striker in the division’ by Town manager Paul Sturrock. Butler has scored 7 goals in all competitions this season and will be looking to send Walsall even further in front of League 2.

Swindon Town Team News:

Swindon have a striker shortage thanks to injuries to Royce Brownlie (Dead leg) and Lee Peacock (Shoulder). Lukas Jutkiewicz should start up front with Christian Roberts. Town have no other strikers. Sturrock will likely make some changed in the midfield and specifically on the wings after Tuesday Night’s 2-0 loss to lowly Mansfield.

Player to watch: Christian Roberts

After a very poor match Tuesday against Mansfield, Roberts will need to up his game in a big way if Town are to get anything from this match.

Match Facts & Stats

Both clubs were relegated from League One last season. Walsall won the match at Bescot Stadium 1-0 last season, whilst Town won the return match at the County Ground thanks to a goal from Jamie Cureton who since moved on to Colchester United.

Match Prediction:

Walsall 2 V Swindon Town 1, Walsall have the best record in the league at home and have yet to lose a league game at Bescot this season. Town are finding it difficult to score and even with a big Swindon following, we don’t see this changing.
