Swindon’s 2-0 victory over Carlisle United this weekend saw the Town pass last seasons final points tally.

Danny Wilson’s side currently lie in fifth position with 56 points after 30 games.

After the 46 fixtures of the 2008/09 season, Swindon finished with 53 points. Progress.

Last years campaign under Maurice Malpas and Danny Wilson saw the club endure a torrid time until the latter successfully guided the club away from the threat of falling into League Two.

Swindon will be looking to continue their fine form on Tuesday evening with Stockport County visiting the County Ground. The Hatters earned a highly credible win at Exeter City and will be full of confidance.

I’m pretty sure when Danny Wilson arrived we were told that we wouldn’t even get a season a decent football. I’ve got a lot of time for Hartlepool United and they were right to sack Wilson but what he did in County Durham has no relation to what he does in future endeavours. The thing that has impressed me the most has been his work in the transfer market – it’s close to flawless thus far.
