Torquay Closing In On Billy Bodin

Winger Billy Bodin could be close to signing with League Two side Torquay United after Town received a bid of around £40,000 according to BBC Wiltshire.

Bodin spent time on loan at Plainmoor and manager Martin Ling is known to be a keen admirer of the Welsh International who is currently out of contract.

As he is under 24 Torquay would have to pay a fee to Swindon which Torquay are keen to avoid.

Bodin was offered a new contract at Swindon Town but it is highly expected he will turn that down, saying he would only remain at Swindon Town if he was guaranteed first team football afer being sent out on loan twice last season.

With the signings of Gary Roberts on the wing and James Collins and Andy Williams up front it looks as if Bodin has fallen even further down the Peking order with manager Paolo Di Canio saying himself that Bodin should move on despite being offered a two year deal to remain at the club.

It is unknown whether Bodin returned to training with the rest of the Swindon Town squad like many players do when out of contract but it is currently a tug-o-war between Crewe Alexandra and Torquay United for Bodin whom he had loan spells with last season.

It is thought that Bodin is keen on a switch to Torquay United to be re-united with his Dad Paul Bodin`s best friend Martin Ling but the lure of League One Football may sway the decision in Crewe’s favour.
