The January sales are dominating the football headlines at the moment. Sadly, the majority are boring ones like Stewart Downing, Jermain Defoe and every footballer who has ever worked for Harry Redknapp being linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur (ZZZZZ).

It startly pretty swiftly on the Swindon forums, most of them (like Redknapp) being former Danny Wilson players like David Foley, former Town midfielder Andy Monkhouse and Michael Nelson.

Others include Graham Kavanagh, Jody Craddock, Theo Robinson and West Brom forward Sherjill MacDonald who had a good loan spell at Hereford last season.

The latest rumour has emerged from the Plymouth Argyle forums. According to their fans, Pilgrims left-back Gary Sawyer could be on his way to the County Ground on loan.

Danny Wilson has indicated that he wanted experience which can be interpreted by either age or games played. Sawyer is 23 years old and played 31 times in the league for Plymouth last season but has only featured once this season. Sawyer also spent two seasons on loan with Exeter City where he was a regular and a member of the side that drew 0-0 with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

  • We’ve not signed anyone for almost 5 months which is quite remarkable. Maurice Malpas should’ve used the loan market loan market long before he was given the boot.

Surely new faces on the way!?!

  • Must have said that MM did not use the loan market to his advantage, when things started getting bad he should have went out looking for fresh blood.

  • Monsieur Malpas only ever briefly suggested that he had transfer targets, but I believe he felt he could turn around the clubs fortunes without dipping into the market.

It’s a fine line, no loan signings like Malpas or too many like King/Onuora in our relegation season.
