The FA have confirmed the sacking of England manager Steve McClaren less than 24 hours after England crashed out of Euro 2008.

England lost 2-1 to Croatia in a match that England only had to draw last night at a wet and muddy Wembley.

Where as McClaren will shoulder most of the blame for England`s poor performance, the attitude of the overpaid Premiership superstars should also shoulder some of the blame. The performance of the players apart from David Beckham, was poor at best.

England will now miss their first major tournament since 1994.

Jose Mourinho and Martin O`Neill are the bookies favourites to take over as England manager.

I thought Crouch was good aswell. But yes, I don’t blame McLaren entirely. The England team are vastly overrated – International football is no cake walk, and there are many good teams – it takes a team full of world class players, plus a few real stars, to make a potential championship winning team, and we just don’t have it. The Euro 96 team was head and shoulders above this lot.
