Swindon Town keeper Phil Smith has been named the PFA Fans Player of the Month for December in League Two.
Smith joined Town under former manager Dennis Wise in the Summer from Conference side Crawley Town.
During his first couple of months at Swindon he hardly played due to the superb form of Slovakian goalkeeper Peter Brezovan.
When Brezovan broke his arm against Grimsby City, Smith saw his chance to make an impression and he has done just that.
Smith’s last game was Monday against MK Dons where he had a clean sheet including a penalty save against prolific striker Izale McLeod.

Made a very good save at our place, but didn’t have much else to do really
Well done Phil, it was a difficult act to follow after Peter was injured.
thoroughly deserved and well done for some fantastic goal keeping.
