Swindon Town look as if they will be saved from extinction. The club and Andrew Fitton are poised to complete a takeover of the club tomorrow.

It has been revealed that the would be new chief executive was shown around the County Ground yesterday and that the completion of the deal could be announced tomorrow.

It is then expected the current board would all resign. Andrew Fitton would then appoint his own board.

The new consortium under the name of Swindon Football Holdings Limited, is worth hundreds of millions of pounds and would clear all of the clubs current debt.

This would lift the transfer embargo that has hung over the club for the last 2 months and allow Town to sign players in the January transfer window.

Fitton`s first duty will be to appoint a new manager for the club and it is believed that Leyton Orient boss Martin Ling is the favourite followed by Martin Allen.

This is great news for the club. I am a spurs fan that lives in swindon and have been to see hundreds of games over the years including the heart breaking play off defeat to brighton on penalties a few years back when we had super sammy parkin. Swindon town fc can not be alowed to close its doors. I hope it is finalised tomorrow and all goes well
