Vital Swindon Town picks apart the 2008/09 squad piece by piece starting with the goalkeepers.

Peter Brezovan – 8/10

The highly rated Slovak keeper re-found the form that made him a fan favourite before breaking his arm against Grimsby Town 2 seasons ago. Brezovan has recently been fighting for a new contract at Swindon Town or to be told where his future lies.

Brezovan regained his starting position after Phil Smith suffered an injury last season. Several fantastic displays last season will likely see Brezovan start again this season for Town but unless a new contract is not forthcoming.

Brezovan could be heading for the exit come January. Swansea City are keen admirers of Brezovan and would likely be the first in line should Brezovan not play or Swindon be willing to listen to offers.

Phil Smith – 7/10

Started last season with the number one shirt but soon lost it after suffering an injury early into the season.

Smith saw his chances limited after impressing for Town the season before. Town boss Maurice Malpas gave Smith his chance to re-gain the number 1 shirt however Smith failed to regain his form and Malpas was left less than impressed.

Like most Town fans we are sure Smith could still do a job for Town and should Brezovan get injured, Smith will be more than a good replacement.

Mark Scott – N/A

Only featured for Town during reserve matches and Wiltshire Shield games last season. Scott was one of several youngsters who were given a professional contract for the forthcoming season.

Scott will likely play a bit part again this season as David Byrne and Ady Williams continue to develop him.
