In the last of our positional previews we look at and rate the Swindon Town defenders.

Jack Smith – 7/10

Was a forgotten man for part of the season after dislocating his shoulder. It looked as if his Swindon Town career was over however Smith stepped up to the plate when called upon towards the end of the season to earn a new deal. Quite dependable.

Jamie Vincent – 6/10

Vincent is very vocal however seems to give the ball away a bit. You can never question his commitment to the cause though.

Jerel Ifil – 7/10

Town’s longest serving player seemed to suffer a dip in form when Maurice Malpas arrived on the scene and was even dropped part way during the season. Ifil on his day is one of the best defenders in League One.

Hasney Aljofree – 7/10

Gets the number 6 shirt after Ady Williams retired at the end of last season. The Town captain paired up well with Ifil and should be fit to start the season.

Patrick Kanyuka – 7/10

Rated highly by QPR. Despite a spate of injuries Kanyuka has looked effective in every game he has played in for Town. This season could be his.

Kevin Amankwaah – 6/10

This could be a make or break year for Amankwaah. The former Swansea defender has suffered a bad run of injuries and is keen to show the form he had at Bristol City. Amankwaah looked effective during the pre-season but will miss the big kick off against Tranmere with a hamstring injury suffered against Chippenham.

Yinka Casal – 6/10

Town’s latest signing was Fulham Reserves top goalscorer at one stage. Casal will look to fill the void left by Miguel Comminges who signed with Cardiff. Looked very pacy but needs to get stuck in more. This will come with a few games back in the english leagues.
