Swindon Town Get New Investor

We Got The Power, Bill Power that is. The former QPR Director has come to Town with money and has high hopes for the future of Swindon Town Football Club.

Power left his beloved Queens Park Rangers last summer after a power struggle that also saw avid QPR fan Mark Devlin leave the club.

The Swindon Town board have been looking for additional money and support for many months and now have their man.

Speaking to the local media this morning Power said, “I’m not Roman Abramovich, I’ve not got billions sat away, but it won’t end there,” Power has put an initial £1 Million into the club and will put more in over time. Power was keen to emphasise he will put money towards the playing squad in the hopes of bringing Swindon Town right back to League One, as well as help pay the bills. This could mean the CVA Payment will be made and the club can continue to operate without worrying about liquidation.

Power has many reasons for coming to Swindon who he calls a big club at this level and an even bigger club in League Two. He hopes to to take Swindon Town to the Championship or higher and make the club successful once again. “It’s about helping the club as a whole. I’m not going to say let’s go and spend £200,000 on a player, I won’t do that until it’s needed.”

Power has sworn to take the hands on approach and work with supporters clubs and talk to fans via internet message boards as he has done in the past. “There’s 100 different things that make a club successful, and it’s not just pumping money into players, although keeping our best players and keeping them happy is part of that.”

Overall this is good news for Swindon Town, whose financial problems have been well documented. Finally their could be light at the end of the tunnel at Swindon Town and reasons for fans to smile.

Fans will no doubt be talking about replacing current manager with Ian Holloway with this announcement however, Power has made it clear he is looking forward to working with Iffy Onuora and helping him any way he can.
