Swindon Town Football Club have released a statement in regards to the violence in the Arkells Stand where 60 seats were damaged during our match against Bristol Rovers.

Club Statement

The Club Safety Officer has carried out a thorough investigation of the regrettable incidents that occurred at The County Ground on Saturday 16th December 2006.

It has been established that fans from both clubs were responsible for damaging around 60 seats that were in roughly equal proportion between the Swindon Town and Bristol Rovers areas of the Arkells Stand.

The investigation continues to try and identify the people responsible for the disturbances using the CCTV pictures and any other photography that may become available. Any Swindon Town fan identified as being actively involved in the trouble, will receive a lifetime ban from The County Ground. We will be sharing any relevant information we obtain with Bristol Rovers, who will no doubt deal with their own fans in the appropriate manner. The club is satisfied that the ticketing and stewarding met all reasonable standards but in order to ensure an incident of this type cannot occur again, and on the advice of the Safety Officer, the club will be increasing the sterile area between the home and away supporters within the Arkells Stand.

The STFC Box Office will be contacting Season Ticket Holders whose seats fall in the aforementioned area, this week, to discuss alternative locations in the stand.
