Swindon Town have signed Billy Paynter from League One rivals Southend United on a three year contract.
Paynter was the second striker manager Paul Sturrock signed before the end of the transfer window.
Paynter was very succesful during his spell at Port Vale where he scored 13 and 14 goals in back to back seasons.
Paynter had spells at Hull and Southend as well as a loan spell at Bradford City last season where he scored 4 goals in 15 games for the Bantams.
Paynter will be unavailable to play against Crewe Alexandra on Saturday due to Football League deadlines but could make his debut Tuesday against Brentford in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy match.
