The waiting is finally over! Swindon Town’s first summer signing arrives in the shape of Andy Monkhouse, who had previously been with Rotherham for the last 8 years.

Monkhouse signs on a one-year deal, with an option of a second year.

Speaking to Swindon Town’s official site Monkhouse said,

“Dennis phoned me and asked me what my plans were. From there we kept in contact when I was on holiday and I have now put pen to paper on the deal.” “

Dennis Wise and Gus Poyet are already showing what their names alone can do for the club.

“As soon as Dennis and Gus took over I knew it was where I wanted to be. Having spoken to them both they said they might play some part as well, so that would be fantastic for me in terms of players to learn from.”

“I know Lee Peacock from his time at Sheffield Wednesday so hopefully he can show me round!” Monkhouse concluded.

” he’s always injured so you will be lucky if he plays 15 full games , he has hole in his knee the size of a 50p peice & was on a week to week contract with us on £600 a week plus bonuses for games played , so good luck with him “

Perhaps we should have gone for Bob Monkhouse instead. No we’ll see how it goes, we also have the good youngesters already here, waiting in the background for their chance to shine.

I am sure Dennis knows what he is doing, he has to bring in players that will improve our squad and he will know that the fans will expect big things from him as a manager,
