Swindon Town will need a new captain following the departure of Alan McCormack to League One rivals Brentford which is expected to be announced within the next 48 hours.

The obvious favourite goes to Darren Ward who has been a captain in the past as well as joint caretaker manager following the departure of Paolo Di Canio.

A rock at the back Ward is the heavy favourite with maybe Alan Navarro second although there are rumours that Town want to get Navarro off the wage bill following a disastrous injury blighted season, not to mention his hefty wages.

Other contenders include Andy Williams, Gary Roberts and Jay McEveley, depending if they are not sold.
