Swindon Town took all 3 points this afternoon at the County Ground beating the team who were supposed to be second in the League in convincing fashion.

Swindon dominated the match from start to finish and managed to get a helping hand from the Forest defence who decided to gift Town 3 points and put their own Promotion hopes on hold for the afternoon.

Town got off to a great start and made the team who were second in the division coming into the game look very very ordinary.

Town kept running forward and attacking Forest however the finishing product was not there until the 35th minute when Nottingham’s James Perch headed the ball into his own net to give the home team a 1-0 lead.

The Teams went into the break and were given a standing ovation as they headed into the dressing room on a wet and soggy day at the County Ground.

Town came back out for the second half and continued exactly how they left off attacking the Foreset goal.

On the 63rd minute Forest would get a corner which was taken by Aaron Davies which was converted by Luke Chambers to make the secore 1-1.

Even with the score 1-1 the Town fans got behind their team and the noise was as loud as it has been in years at the County Ground with a new era well and truly under way since the arrival of Andrew Fitton.

In a bizarre moment Blair Sturrock beat Forest keeper Paul Smith but the ball got stuck in the mud outside of the goal allowing Wes Morgan to clear.

Then things got rather nasty as Julian Bennett a Forest substitute decided to laugh and mock the fans in the Town End which resulted in a charge down to Bennett which almost caused a riot.

The referee would book Bennett even though he had not stepped on the pitch yet.

Tempers would then flare as Miguel Comminges would be on the end of a strong challenge from Forest to which fists started to fly and a shoving match ensued.

Blair Sturrock would be substitued by Moses Ashikodi to a well deserved standing ovasion. Blair did a fantastic job, No he is not a natural goalscorer but the way he worked the channels was something special.

Town’s luck would finally come on the 83rd minute as Nottingham’s Ian Breckin would head the ball past his own keeper Smith and send the Town fans into raptures.

Town would hold out for a well deserved win in a match they completely dominated.

The County Ground is a different place to be these days after Andrew Fitton’s takeover and the familiar chants of “E-I-E-I-E-I-O UP THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE WE GO, WHEN WE WIN PROMOTION THIS IS WHAT WE’LL SING, WE ARE SWINDON, WE ARE SWINDON, MALPAS IS OUR KING” have returned.

Swindon Town are now 6 points out of the playoffs with 2 games in hand. Let the good times Roll and COME ON YOU REDS!

We have to give BS a lot of credit, lesser players would have given up and sulked off somewhere else, but he’s battled against the abuse and negativity.

Agreed, BS and Paynter were both good, and both should have had goals but for the mud and the referee not allowing advantage to go for long enough. A well deserved win – slightly annoying that most websites are saying that Forest gifted us the win with 2 own goals as this is not a reflection on the game which was entirely one sided
