Swindon Town remain undefeated in League Two after winning their 5th straight game by beating lowly Stockport County 2-0 at the County Ground.

Aaron Brown who came on for an injured Andy Caton scored Town’s opener with a fantastic left-footed free kick. Brown who handed in a transfer request but later withdrew it, is obviously trying to impress manager Dennis Wise.

Ricky Shakes who had a great game almost scored the second goal just after the break but his effort hit the cross bar.

Rejuvinated Christian Roberts had a fantastic game and sealed the victory for Swindon in the 63rd minute with a great goal past the Stockport Keeper.

Stockport County need to do something special this season. A few new players will be needed judging by this performance if they are to avoid a relegation battle.

Former England Captain Paul Ince was in attendance during this match and looks set to sign as a player-coach with Swindon Town mid next week.

Player Ratings

Peter Brezovan – 7
Usual reliable self, had some decent saves and commanded his area well.

Jerel Ifil – 7
Another fantastic game for “The Beast” who his really excelling this season with new found confidence and discipline.

Jack Smith – 7
Much like Ifil, Looks a different player this season. Did well at the back alongside Ifil and has helped ensure Swindon have only conceeded 2 goals all season.

Andy Nicholas – 6
Nothing special from Nicholas but did his job. wasn’t great, wasn’t bad. A decent performance.

Ady Williams – 7
Williams has done well since returning from injury, suffered a injury scare late in the second half and handed the captains armband to Peter Brezovan.

Curtis Weston – 6
Not his best game, is playing better with a experienced player alongside him. Should Paul Ince sign he will be one of the first to benefit no doubt.

Andy Caton – N/A
Had to come off with injury but looked very lively and useful prior to coming off at the 19 Minute mark.

Paul Evans – 7
Did his job well and organised the midfield. Evans has been one of the best signings this season and continues to impress with his performances.

Ricky Shakes – 6
Was fast and got the ball around players. Had shot deflected off of the woodwork. Crossing needs some work as most went out of play.

Lee Peacock – 6
Not one of his better games but still got stuck in and did what he was meant to. Missed a couple of open goals.

* Christian Roberts – 8
Looked fantastic again. Despite being injured scored the 2nd goal. Was very lively and put great crosses into the box. 18 more goals and Roberts will earn a well deserved holiday next Summer.

Manager Rating
Dennis Wise – 8 – Made a couple of changes to the team that beat Darlington due to injuries however these appeared to be the right changes. Aaron Brown who had yet to start this season scored Swindon’s first goal. Wise is intent on beating Swindon Town’s unbeaten record set by Lou Macari back in the 1980’s.

Opponent Rating
Jim Gannon – 5 – It’s not his fault his team are playing bad however, Gannon needs to bring in some new faces that will bring a spark to the club. Stockport flirted with relegation last season and unless something happens soon, County will suffer the same fate this season.
