Peter Murphy scored a late equaliser for Carlisle to earn a point after Swindon Town took a 2-1 lead late in the game.

Swindon Town had several goal scoring chances in the game however Carlisle keeper Keiren Westwood was on fine form and made a string of good saves to ensure his team kept the score at 0-0 going into half time at the County Ground.

Marc Bridge-Wilkinson headed Carlisle in front on 54 minutes. It was clearly one shot on target, one goal, similar to the Leeds United match but Simon Cox levelled on 61 minutes from Anthony McNamee’scorner.

McNamee was having another great game and has bags of pace to burn. Why Watford let him go I will never know.

Cox needed his goal to regain some confidence and took it well.

Blair Sturrock put Swindon ahead on 80 minutes thanks to a cracking shot from just inside the area but once again Carlisle equalised 6 minutes from time after Peter Murphy headed in Simon Hackney’s corner to give Carlisle a share of the points.

Player Ratings

Peter Brezovan – 6
Didn’t have a lot to do during the game but you felt more confident having Brezovan between the sticks than Smith.

Miguel Comminges – 7
Sort this guys contract out now. Fantastic player and his pace and skill are something else.

Jack Smith – 7
Didn’t do anything wrong and have rightfully earned his place back in the team.

Jerel Ifil – 6
Not back at his best but is getting the job done. Give him a couple more games to regain his confidence and we will see the best of Ifil.

Hasney Aljofree – 6
Did ok but almost headed into his own goal when passing the ball back to goalkeeper Peter Brezovan.

J.P McGovern – 6
Started off fairly poor but improved as the game went on.

Craig Easton – 7
Easton put on another good performance. Was unlucky not to have a pass given to him by Sturrock which would have set up a goal scoring opportunity.

Michael Timlin – 8 MOTM
Michael Timlin was simply superb. Did everything right, got stuck in, chased balls down. Just the player we needed. Can tell he is happy to be back at Swindon.

Anthony McNamee – 8
Why Watford let this guy go, I have no idea, Pace to burn, puts in fantastic crosses, and 9 times out of 10 will run past the player who is on him.

Blair Sturrock – 7
Sturrock gets a lot of stick but why? He runs his heart out and never gives up. Sturrock did very well and took his goal well as well.

Simon Cox – 7
Finally managed to end his goal drought which should give him more confidence. Cox needed his goal to get him going again.

Moses Ashikodi – N/A
Moses was not on very long but when he was he did look dangerous.

Manager Rating
Maurice Malpas – Even the Maurice Malpas haters couldn’t say Malpas got it wrong. Malpas saw the team was doing well and did not interfere by shuffling the pack. Ashikodi has probably done well in training scoring goals hence why Sturrock was replaced at the end of the game so Town could try and take all 3 points. Malpas was spot on.

Opponent Rating
John Ward – The former Cheltenham Town boss had seen his side extend its unbeaten run to 7 games. Carlisle’s back 4 were very well organised and probably the best we have seen at the County Ground this season. Not overly effective up front however we would say that Carlisle have a very good chance at playing Championship football next season.
