Swindon Town put on their best performance of the season to beat a woeful Southend United 3-0 at the County Ground thus ending a six game winless streak.

Town won the game after enjoying large amounts of the game with most of the possession.

On loan midfielder and former Southend United loanee Hal Robson-Kanu put Swindon ahead on 18 minutes after breaking through The Shrimpers midfield to give Town a 1-0 advantage. The Town fans were on cloud nine and the noise level rose in the Town End as the fans got well behind the team probably for the fist time this season.

Just five minutes later Town were awarded a penalty after Billy Paynter was brought down in the box.

Most fans expected Paynter to take the penalty however Simon Cox took the shot and slotted past former Town keeper Steve Mildenhall to stun Southend. Town would then play some attractive passing football for about ten minutes with Southend hardly seeing any of the ball. After Southend finally got the ball the team were given a standing ovation for their efforts.
