Sturrock Discusses Youth Coach

Swindon Town manager Paul Sturrock has discussed his feelings on new Youth manager David Byrne.

As reported by us over the weekend, Swindon Town has confirmed Byrne’s appointment and will start his role with the club next Monday.

‘David is someone who I have known for a long time. He is a highly qualified coach and is an assessor for the South West as far as bringing coaches on. I’m sure he will do a good job for us,’ said Sturrock who was speaking to the official website.

‘He is very enthusiastic and wants to get into coaching professionally and he has a great opportunity here. There will be a lot of changes – something of a revolution. The changes in personnel haven’t helped the youngsters, so we want some stability and to get our ideas across.

‘Budgie (Byrne) and I have the same views and the youth system is a high priority for us. We are excited about some of the players we have coming through, but there is a lot to do.’ Sturrock concluded.
