The media down in Devon are linking Swindon Town to Exeter City central defender Matt Taylor.

The 28 year old from Ormskirk did the Non-League rounds up North as a goalkeeper with Burscough (where he won the FA Trophy), Rossendale United, Matlock Town, Hucknall Town, Halifax Town, Guiseley and Sheffield Hallam University (where he played as a centre back) before joining Paul Tisdale at Team Bath in 2006 as a fully fledged defender.

He has also has represented both the England and the Great Britain Universities side.

It was Tisdale who then brought Taylor into professional football with Exeter City in 2007 where he has been a key figure in assisting in Exeter City’s rise from 5th Tier to the 3rd Tier of English football

Talking to the local media in Exeter Taylor, who is City captain, has distanced himself from the speculation (which hasn’t really been talked about in Wiltshire) by saying that if ‘something happens it happens, but I am not waiting by the phone or anything like that.’

As always we shall keep you posted…
