Swindon midfielder Michael Timlin rejected offers from other clubs to remain a Town player he has revealed.

The Ireland Under-21 cap fell out-of-favour last season due to the form of Jonathan Douglas and Celtic loanee Simon Ferry.

However, Timlin has opted to remain at the County Ground for a further year.

Talking to the BBC, Timlin spoke with refreshing honesty when he stated that ‘since I first came here for Fulham there was high expectations of me and I know I probably haven’t met those expectations yet.’

But the midfielder and former stand-in captain of the club said that he ‘had other options to play first team football bur I’m so happy here.’
