Swindon Town’s first signing of the summer, Michael Rose, has talked of his relief of leaving Stockport County and his ambition to help get Swindon Town into The Championship.

Rose joined Swindon Town yesterday on a two year deal after County were relegated into League Two.

Taking to the Swindon Advertiser, Rose explained that he had ‘another year [at Stockport] but with the trouble they’ve had and having been relegated it’s not the place I want to be.’

Rose, who spent the second half of last season with Norwich City, spoke of his hope of taking Swindon into the Championship, which according to the left sided defender is where the club ‘deserves to be and where the gaffer wants it to be.’

Meanwhile, the transfer officially ends any pursuit the club had for former loanee Alan Sheehan.

Sheehan always expressed his desire to join a Championship club. However, Leeds United’s valuation of the Irishman is reportedly the main reason behind the clubs decision to end their interest.
