Alan O’Brien appears to have become the first victim of what will no doubt be Swindon Town’s prolific ‘wielding axe’ this summer after being told to find a new club.

The former Republic of Ireland international was signed on a Free Transfer by Danny Wilson in the summer of 2009 upon his release from Scottish Premier League outfit Hibernian.

However, injuries and lack of form restricted the former Newcastle United youngster with sporadic appearances within the first team.

Manager Paul Hart told BBC Radio Wiltshire that ‘I’ve already had a word with Alan and don’t think I’m speaking out of turn when I say I don’t think he will play a part for us.’

No surprise, unfortunate with injuries. All the pace in the world but it was never enough. Good luck to the guy though.
