Town travel to Poole Town on Tuesday 3rd August. Kick-Off is at 1945.
The friendly was initiated through the transfer deal that saw Charlie Austin move to Swindon Town in October 2009.
Danny Wilson is expected to rest his key players ahead of Town’s opening day fixture with Brighton and Hove Albion. However, it is likely that Charlie Austin will play a small part against his former club while triallist Thomas Dossevi could be invited to play after impressing against Nottingham Forest.
Poole Town Squad
Started his career with Luton Town in the early 90’s but failed to fully break into the first team set-up making only 5 league appearances in five years as a professional at Kenilworth Road.
Skelton moved to Colchester United in 1997 where he enjoyed more first team football. He scored his first of his 17 goals in October 1997 in the 1-1 draw at home to Shrewsbury Town. The season was a success and Colchester were promoted to the third tier of English football.
After an injury plagued second season, Skelton became a first team regular against througout the rest of his U’s career playing 125 league game in all.
Skelton returned to Luton Town in 2001 but is once again a fringe player as Luton secure promotion. He was eventually released in 2003.
The midfielder fell into Non-League football afterwards with Havant & Waterlooville but arrived at Poole Town in 2006 where he has played over 120 times and helped the club win the Wessex League Premier League in 2009 and 2010.
Brought in from nearby Christchurch. Cook was Charlie Austin’s partner-in-crime at Poole Town. Cook more than contributed within their prolific strike partnership.
Fanstically named forward player. Cream started his football education in his native California before moving to Scotland where he was a professional with both Dundee United and Dunfirmline Athletic, he failed to make any appearances though.
He moved to Germany playing in the lower leagues with SV Meppen before brief spells with Shelbourne in Ireland and Cleveland City Stars in the United States.
His first club in England was Bournemouth Poppies (a league rival of Poole) but soon moved up the Non-League ladder by joining Bashley in the Southern League Premier Division.
Max Cream joined Poole Town this summer. During his career the 22 year old has had trial spells with Los Angeles Galaxy and Stoke City.
Last meetings between the two clubs
Swindon and Poole’s first meeting was way back in 1902 in the F.A. Cup 4th Qualifying Round. Swindon Town won 7-1 with Jimmy Pugh getting a hattrick.
The second and final meeting occurred in the same competition in the following season. Swindon managed to better the 7-1 by winning 9-0 in the 3rd Qualifying Round, Pugh bagged another hattrick while Teddy Bullock also scored three that day.
Played for Both Clubs
JIMMY ITHELL played over 100 times for Swindon Town just after World War Two. Later he went on to manager in Non-League with Boston United, Poole Town, Chippenham Town and Trowbridge Town.
