STFC: Malpas Says Fans Won’t Force Me Out

Swindon Town boss Maurice Malpas has said that the fans and constant chants and booing will not force him to leave the club despite Ian Holloway being at the ground on Saturday.

Town have been heavily linked with Ian Holloway taking over the manager`s job at the club after he was spotted at the County Ground over the weekend. Town Chairman Andrew Fitton has quashed those rumours saying that Holloway was at the match on his own accord.

Malpas has received a torrent of abuse from sections of fans including some un-called for personal abuse which is bang out of order after Town lost their 5th straight home game.

Fans have been chanting “you don`t know what your doing” and “we want Malpas Out” during the last 2 home games but Malpas has now fought back stating he will prove his doubters wrong.

Malpas has said the fans can chant whatever they want but he won`t be forced to leave and the chanting does not help matters. The under pressure manager was also quick to state he could understand the fans frustrations but has promised to turn things around despite the club being one point off relegation now.

Malpas` saving grace may be the fact the club have advanced to the later stages of the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy however all matches in that competition have been away games so far.

Andrew Fitton backed Malpas saying that the management team are doing everything possible to try and get their season back on track.
