Swindon Town and Gareth Whalley are in talks again about terminating the midfielders contract early.

Paul Sturrock revealed that Whalley and his representatives are currently locked in talks with acting Chief Executive Martyn Starnes about reaching a settlement on Whalley’s contract.

‘Gareth Whalley is currently in talks with our Chief Executive to try and sort out a deal.’ Sturrok said, ‘As I have said before, Gareth needs to be playing football at his age and he isn’t in my plans so we are hopeful of getting something sorted.’

Whalley joined Town prior to last season from Premiership side Wigan Athletic but has seen his participation limited due to injuries.

Whalley had been on trial at Conference side Halifax Town after only featuring in 2 games for Swindon this season, however the Shaymen decided to pass on signing him.

Whalley’s agent had spoken to the club before about his release but the 2 sides could not come to an agreement.
