‘It would have been a good opportunity for me. Obviously I was disappointed the offer from Hull was turned down.’

It’s the sentence that has been quoted a lot in the last 24 hours.

Alas, those are the words of Swindon Town forward Charlie Austin provided to the world by SkySports.com

So what does this mean now? Media outlets get so excited about ‘understanding’ news that they don’t see the true fallout aka the anarchy within the fanbases!

Is Austin truly disappointed that Hull City’s offer was turned down by the club? Or is he trying to tempt other suitors to submit a bid?

The quote certainly hasn’t impressed chairman Andrew Fitton who expressed his disappointment in an interview with the Swindon Advertiser by stating that footballers ‘shouldn`t get sold into these conversations’.

Fitton used former Swindon Town forward Simon Cox as an example of how footballers should conduct themselves to the media, Fitton commented the Cox ‘always said ‘I will never ask for a move away. I’ll get on and do my job on the pitch and you do yours off it.”
