Popular forward Charlie Austin joined Championship outfit Burnley yesterday after a week of speculation.

Austin has signed a 3 and a half year deal at Turf Moor after Swindon accepted an undisclosed bid (believed to be in the region of £1.2million).

In what was a whirlwind Town career, Austin excelled scoring 32 times in only 57 league appearances for the Robins.

His prolific partnership with Billy Paynter helped Swindon get to Wembley for the 2009/10 League One Play-Off Final before losing to Millwall (Austin missing a one-on-one due to a freak bobble from the Wembley turf).

Austin continued to score goals this season but it wasn’t enough to win games and as a result the club have lost their prize asset. It comes as no surprise that his goals dried up after handing in a transfer request.

Earlier in the week, Charlie Austin rejected personal terms with Ipswich Town.

VITAL SWINDON WOULD LIKE TO THANK AUSTIN FOR HIS EFFORTS AND WISHES HIM ALL THE VERY BEST AT BURNLEY.
