Swindon Town will be backed by about 200 Sheffield Wednesday fans tonight at Mansfield according to Swindon Town manager Paul Sturrock.
Swindon Town aren’t expected to take a huge following but Sturrock has mentioned that he has heard the rumours of Sheffield Wednesday fans joining the Swindon Town fans this evening and will welcome their support.
‘I have heard there will be a blue army of Wednesday fans there as well, so there should be a larger than life crowd.’
These rumours have been echoed on various Sheffield Wednesday Internet forums as well as on various websites.
Sturrock was hugely popular at Sheffield Wednesday and the decision to sack Sturrock, left fans with a bitter taste in their mouths.
“There will be an edge as there`s going to be a blue army at Mansfield as well as a red army.” Sturrock Said.
“I would expect there`ll be several Sheffield Wednesday fans there.
“Hopefully they`ll intermingle with the Swindon fans and we should have a larger than life crowd.
“Most of the emails and letters I`ve received say they (Wednesday fans) are going to turn up.
“I`m not sure how many, two or three hundred I`d imagine.”
Swindon Town fans will welcome the added support with open arms and no doubt have a bit of friendly banter in the process.

There won’t be that many fans there. I’d be surprised if there were 20 tbh.
Ain’t too bothered myself how many – as long as we get the 3 points.

How many Owls were there, 200 owls and only 74 Swindon fans wouldn’t be very good turn out…..saving your money for Bescot on saturday!!
I counted about 20 but could have been more, those were the ones in colours, Fair play to them. I bet they wish they didn’t bother now!
