Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has reassured fans of the Cottagers that his side will not underestimate Swindon Town in Saturdays F.A. Cup 3rd Round clash at Craven Cottage.

Talking to the official Fulham Football Club website, the Australian international stated that ‘Make no mistake, we will not be underestimating Swindon Town in any way and we will treat this game with the same importance as any other. On Saturday it`s one team against another, and this is the competition for upsets… We`ve seen it happen so many times down the years and we have to be aware of that and make sure that we perform to the best of our capabilities. We`re confident don`t get me wrong, it`s just that at this level, preparation is the key.

Fulham have been in fine form this season under the impressive Roy Hodgson who has significantly reserved the clubs fortunes since replacing Lawrie Sanchez in late 2007.

Schwarzer finished by acknowledging Hodgson’s work by saying any victory would be a good way to celebrate his managers new deal at Fulham – ‘It`s the first game of the New Year and it would be nice to start 2010 off with a win… It would also be nice to cap some very positive news that the Manager has signed a new contract with the Club.’

Mark Schwarzer has been in England since 1997 but has only lined-up against Town twice…

Just popped over from Vital Burnley to wish you lads a Happy New Year and good luck for tomorrow at Fulham. Just seen your team checking in at a big hotel in Twickenham so they’ll be well rested for the game at the Cottage.

Cheers for that RT. As long as we give them a good game I’m happy – a positive result we see me dancing in the Newcastle snow that’s for sure!
