Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has confirmed that Swindon Town are set to sign Sam Ricketts on loan from Championship side Wolves.

Coventry looked set to sign the 33 year old defender but another chance at Promotion with Town may have persuaded Ricketts to join Swindon instead.

‘He`s a Swindon boy so I can understand it,’ said Mowbray.

‘I wished him well and you can`t get too uptight about it.’

‘In my mind he`s just one target and we move on. He was experienced but his versatility was the biggest factor for me because Ricketts could play anywhere across the back line.’

Ricketts has vast Premier League experience with Bolton and Hull.

Ricketts has won promotion from every division in the Football League and will be a much welcome addition to Town’s back line.
