Former Swindon Town favourite Sam Parkin has found his goalscoring touch again after being out through injury for the past 2 seasons.

Parkin left Swindon after the 2004/05 season and headed to Ipswich to ply his trade in the Championship after scoring over 70 goals in 3 seasons at the County Ground.

Sadly Parkin’s Championship dream would turn into a nightmare after only 3 months as Parkin suffered a ankle injury that would keep him out for the rest of the season.

Before the injury Parkin was Ipswich’s top goalscorer however all the goals had come away and the home fans soon started to turn on the former County Ground favourite.

At the start of the 2006/07 season Parkin was the 6th choice striker and was soon sold to Luton Town for around £340,000 however the same injury that stalled his Ipswich Town career blocked his progress at Luton and he faced another long stay on the sidelines.

Parkin returned to Luton and scored a last minute goal against Leeds United on January 26th 2008 sending the fans into raptures.

Despite Luton Town’s off the field problems and probably relegation to League 2 this season, Parkin has been somewhat rejuvenated over the last few weeks and is back to scoring goals including a last minute goal against Northampton Town on the weekend.

Parkin’s dream of playing in the Championship may be on hold for now however should Parkin be able to continue his current form into next season there may just be a team that takes another chance on Super Sam and give him his chance to shine in the Championship one more time.
