Summer signing Ibrahim Atiku has seen his dreams of representing Ghana rise significantly only to have it taken away from him within hours.

During his teens Atiku has highly regarded and looked likely to play at the highest level with clubs like Manchester United taking an interest. However, it didn’t work out for him and a journeyman career followed.

However, the Town midfielder was drafted into the Ghana senior side yesterday as his nation were scheduled to play in London in midweek.

But the London Riots have killed off his chances of earning his first cap this week after the fixture was forced to be called off.

Atiku will now look to try and break into Paolo Di Canio’s squad for the away trip to Cheltenham on Saturday.

Hard luck Ibrahim.
