Swindon Town make the long midweek trip to Carlisle United on Tuesday for a clash with high flyers Carlisle United.

The last time Swindon Town travelled to Brunton Park was in August of 1995, over 12 years ago and won 1-0 thanks to an Edwin Murray goal.

Vital Quotes:

‘Blair is a Swindon Town player, so instead of booing why not give him a chance. He has scored goals in his career but he will get on with his job and he could have been a real hero had he scored the one on one.’

Swindon Town Team News:

Carlisle United currently sit 4th in the League One table. Paul Thirlwell could be set to return for the blues after playing 90 minutes in a reserve match against Blackpool earlier in the week. Richard Keogh could start for Carlisle after arriving on loan from Bristol City.

Player to watch: Richard Keogh

The on loan Bristol City defender is no stranger to Town fans after becoming a much hated figure whenever he played Swindon previously. Keogh had an earlier spell at Huddersfield and does not look to be in City boss Gary Johnson’s plans at Ashton Gate.

Carlisle United Team News:

Lee Peacock is doubtful. Ady Williams could be on the bench however as he is one of the caretaker managers right now they may give him more time to heal. Ben Tozer could be set for his first League start after doing well against Forest Green Rovers on the weekend. Phil Smith and Jamie Vincent will not travel to Carlisle.

Player to watch: Simon Cox

The on loan Reading striker has failed to score in 5 matches for Town and will be looking to get back on the goal scoring trail.

Match Facts & Stats

Swindon Town have a lifetime 9-1-7 record against the Blues. The last time the 2 teams played was last season in the FA Cup at the County Ground which turned out to be Paul Sturrock’s first game in charge at the County Ground, Town won the game 3-1 thanks to 2 goals from Christian Roberts and an own goal from Chris Lumson.

Match Prediction:

A difficult game indeed for Swindon. A 2-1 home win we predict. The long journey up north may take its toll but Carlisle perform well at home and were the first team to beat Leeds United this season.

When are the football league going to think about the fans. Midweek fixtures should be a maximum of 100 miles travelling distance!
