Swindon Town boss Paul Sturrock has emerged as one of the favourites to replace Ian Holloway who resigned as Plymouth Argyle manager earlier today.

Holloway handed in his resignation today however Plymouth have yet to release the manager from his contract. In a statement released by Plymouth, Holloway`s resignation will be discussed at a board meeting on Friday and no comment will be made until after this meeting.

Holloway had emerged as the favourite to replace Gary Megson as Leicester manager after he left to manage Bolton Wanderers.

Several newspapers have already named Sturrock he favourite to succeed Holloway which we believe to be lazy journalism.

Paul Sturrock has managed Plymouth before from 2000-2004 and got 2 promotions with Argyle becoming an instant fan favourite at Home Park.

It is believed that Sturrock is still friendly with the board at Plymouth and even got Hasney Aljofree to come to Swindon at a discount price due to their relationship.

It is well documented that Swindon Town`s board of directors or fans would not welcome a move for their manager however with the financial current situation at Swindon and Sturrock already stating he would want to retire near Plymouth, a move back to a club he had great success as may be too hard to turn down.

We already lost Dennis Wise, lets hope Luggy stays loyal and remains at Swindon Town.

Luggy going back would be an unmitigated disaster. Please, Swindon, keep him.

Wouldn’t be fair on Swindon to put them through all the ‘will he/won’t he?’

I hate to say it but loyalty with people like Sturrock and Hollowgob mean nothing nowadays, but if we get Sturrock back to Home Park where he belongs I will be very happy for PAFC, although I’ll also have sympathy with Swindon, we have just gone through a couple of days of lies and deceit and guess you would go through the same.

‘Here we go round the Mulberry round – the Mulberry round – the Mulberry round…la la la ‘

Bound to be the first name to be thrown in the hat – there’s the other old favourites to be added yet…..
I don’t want him to go – but hey in this business – that’s life…..

It could happen – especiallyu if the takeover stalls. Fitton needs to hurry up, then convince Sturrock of his future plans, to keep him here
