Strong rumours have emerged tonight that Maurice Malpas will be named the new manager of Swindon Town once the takeover is finally completed.
Malpas is likely a Paul Sturrock connection having played at Dundee United under Sturrock in the past.
Malpas played for over 20 years at Dundee United before moving to Motherwell to become manager.
Chairman-elect Andrew Fitton had said he has spoken to Paul Sturrock and may have suggested Town hire Malpas.
Malpas was a fantasic player and won 55 caps for Scotland and is a member of the Scotland Football Hall of Fame.
Malpas was sacked as Motherwell manage on 1 June 2007.
Malpas was in the Arkells Stand today to watch Swindon Town’s 1-1 draw with Barnet at the County Ground which added fuel to the fire that he was about to be named manager.
