Swindon Town manager Maurice Malpas is set to sit down with the players in the next 2 or 3 weeks and let them know if they will be offered a new contract at the County Ground.

Malpas feels it is time to start assembling a squad for next season and feels it is best to let the players know where they stand in terms of a contract for next season.

‘For the last two or three weeks we’ve been seriously looking at next season,’ Malpas told BBC Sport.

‘We’ve got to sit down with the players who are out of contract.

‘I’ll probably do that in the next two weeks, who’s going to get retained and who we’re going to let go.’ Malpas concluded.

Players likely to be fearful about their County Ground future’s are Michael Pook and Andy Nicholas after seeing their playing time drastically reduced with the first team over the past few weeks.

Malpas also commented that he is in negotiations with Miguel Comminges about keeping him at Swindon Town.

Nicho wasn’t bad last season but hardly looks to have been given a chance. Pook has always been a scapegoat for Town fans.
