Swindon Town boss Maurice Malpas has expressed his frustration at not being able to get out the dead wood and bring in new players for the forthcoming campaign.

Malpas has sent a list of names around to other clubs who are available for loan or permanent transfer from the club. Blair Sturrock and Michael Pook are rumoured to be 2 names available to leave the club whilst it is also understood a few of the youngsters are available to go out on loan to get some first team experience.

Town management have stated that reserve games are pretty much rubbish as you don’t know what standard of team you will be playing. If you are like Plymouth Argyle in pre-season you are likely to be playing the under 12’s, which is going to be no good to the development of players.

It was rumoured that Sturrock was on his way to Luton Town earlier this month however that deal looks as if it has come and gone with no successful conclusion. It appears that many teams have to get players out, to bring players in as clubs try to avoid financial problems during this time of economic hardship.

Malpas hinted he may dip into the loan market to fill some holes in his squad. The back four are probably an area that Malpas may look to improve by bringing in a loan player.

Swindon Town will be boosted by the news that Billy Paynter, Patrick Kanyuka and Kevin Amankwaah will all be available for selection on Saturday against Colchester United at the County Ground.
