A Very poor Swindon Town drop 3 points to lowly Macclesfield this afternoon at Moss Rose. Town now drop to 4th in League 2 after MK Dons and Lincoln City secured 3 points each this afternoon.

With the win over Swindon, Macclesfield extended their unbeaten run to 7 games and now are within reach of getting out of the relegation spots.

Town suffered a set back early on as Sofiene Zaaboub collided with Curtis Weston and had to be stretchered off the pitch. Zaaboub was replaced by Paul Evans who was making his return from an injury.

Macclesfield took the lead when Jerel Ifil’s clearance fell to Silkmen striker John Murphy who dove and headed the ball in to give the home team a 1-0 advantage.

Macclesfield surprisingly took a 2-0 lead after the break when Kevin McIntyre scored off a deflection to put the ball past Swindon keeper Phil Smith.

Town suffered another set back on the 55th minute as Paul Evans who had come on to replace Zaaboub had to go off with an injury to his ankle. Something tell’s up Evans could be the new Stefani Miglioranzi.

Swindon managed to make it 2-1 with a Lee Peacock strike on the 64th minute. Swindon’s only other chance came late in the game when Peacock almost scored a second but this was saved by the Macclesfield keeper.

So in typical Swindon fashion they beat Walsall who is top of the league and fail to beat the team at the bottom.

Town return to training Christmas Eve with their eyes on the big match against Wycombe on Boxing Day.
