Swindon Town is a better club on and off the pitch because of Paul Sturrock, if he choses to leave the club and join Leicester it would be a huge blow to a club that is on the up.

Last season Swindon Town got off to a flying start under Dennis Wise but shortly after the start of the season he left, this season Paul Sturrock is linked with a move to Leicester City.

Sometimes it`s hard really to put into words how you can feel with all this speculation. One hopes that the BBC that broke this story is putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5. Sturrock has brought many players he worked with before to the club and for once 100% of the fan base is completely behind the manager.

After Dennis Wise took a pay increase and went to Leeds to relegate them to League One, many fans felt doom and gloom was ahead and after the impressive start we made last season, relegation was certainly gone. Luckily for us Sheffield Wednesday sacked Paul Sturrock, a man with a great pedigree and someone who knows how to get teams promoted. Swindon Town jumped right on board quickly and signed him up and Sturrock finished the job Wise had started.

Fast forward to this season, Town were expecting consolidation this season in League One however they have got off to a good start and now much like last season it appears a bigger club has taken notice and now they have started sniffing around. Not since the days of Macari and Hoddle have fans rallied behind the manager in the way they have, it would be a massive blow should Sturrock accept the lure of Championship football and leave the County Ground.

Thankfully noises coming out of Leicester this evening state that most fans DON`T want Sturrock as manager. Hopefully they will be heard and Milan Mandarić will move his attention elsewhere.

Sturrock likes to be hands on in his approach and Mandaric is known to many fans to interfere with the manager, Hopefully something that will sway the man affectionately known as Luggy to stay at Swindon.

Sturrock has a clause in his contract which does not allow him to leave for a minimum 18 months and Sturrock as of this moment has only been at the the club for about 10 months.

Everything at the minute is speculation but it`s still a hard pill to swallow, things have not looked this good at the club for atleast a decade and with our start fans are already talking about a possible playoff birth. There is no question Paul Sturrock is the man to take us higher than League One.

WE ARE STURROCK’S RED AND WHITE ARMY… let’s keep it that way!

He is truly a fans manager and earns respect through his management skills and his down to earth approach. If he was to go now it would be a great loss, as he is just getting things going and foundations are laid for a good steady side who perform as a team and not as individuals. Its still early days I know, I just hope this new ‘backing company’ are of the same opinion like us and give him the support and finance he needs.
