Jerel Ifil has joined Scottish Premier League outfit Aberdeen on trial.

On Sunday he started in their pre-season friendly against Hull City.

The ‘Beast’ has played over 200 games for Swindon Town but has fallen out of favour after a poor 2008/09 campaign.

That said this still comes as quite a surprise given the depth of our squad.

The official Aberdeen website commended Ifil for a being “very confident” and bringing “stability to the back four”.

Not sure if we will miss him or not – hasn’t exactly played that well for a while now.

At the end of the proverbial day, it’s a body to this squad.

Very interesting indeed, a physical league, although probably still too physical for the Beast!

I also think the Town’s reputation as a non- descript place to live might have something to do with our lack of interesting options in the transfer market this summer- there’s still hope though!
