Slow news day? I think so.
Today the Swindon Advertiser chose to run with the news that Glenn Hoddle has become a ‘surprise front-runner’ for the Swindon Town post, a job he deserted in 1993 for Chelsea.
I suppose stranger things have happened, right? The link emerged when Glenn Hoddle and his Glenn Hoddle Academy cronies were spotted at the County Ground over the last few weeks.
The reason? Probably to forge a link with a lower league club so they can give a league club to some of their graduates who are based in Spain.
Hoddle would no doubt rally the depressed fanbase but would you up sticks from Spain to take over a Divvy 4 side? I wouldn’t!
Frankly, there’s more chance of appointing Ossie Ardiles.
The Advertiser felt obliged to get peoples hopes up after ‘a flurry of bets’ for Hoddle’s placed within the last 48 hours.

Jerez Industrial are semi-pro but the academy is full-time commitment. I have very fond memories of Hoddle’s time at Swindon… But I think this is a nothing story.
