Goodbye LDV Vans Trophy

Today The Football League announced that the LDV Vans Trophy will cease to exist next season.

Due to LDV going into liquidation and not be able to fulfill their sponsorship duties, LDV Vans will no longer be sponsoring the much slated trophy next season.

Instead the Cup will now be named ‘The Football League Trophy’. This is a strange choice of name given the fact that Conference Teams are allowed to enter the tournament. Perhaps this is just a working name until the Football League find a new principal sponsor for the tournament.
