Swindon Town midfielder Gareth Whalley is on trial at Halifax Town after being told he has no future at Swindon.

Whalley who joined Town from Premiership side Wigan, signed a three year contract prior to least season under old boss Andy King but has hardly to feature due to persistent injury problems since joining the club.

Whalley has featured in only 2 games this season for Town and was told by current boss Paul Sturrock he is surplus to requirements at the County Ground and is free to depart the club.

Whalley has said he will only leave the club if the terms are right for him as he has to take care of his family first.

Halifax Town currently find themselves in the relegation places in the Nationwide Conference by one point and are desperate to get back into the Football League.
