Dietmar Hamann in Contention!

Former Germany international Dietmar Hamann has become the latest name to emerge as a serious contender for the Swindon Town hotseat.

Hamann, 37, is believed to be the mystery applicant that had impressed interim chairman Jeremy Wray but who had not been mentioned in the press.

Dietmar Hamann played for Bayern Munich and Newcastle United before joining Liverpool in 1999 where he enjoyed seven successful years winning:

1x Champions League winners medal
(came on as a 2nd half sub when 3-0 down to AC Milan, he scored in the shoot-out

1x UEFA Cup winners medal
(he also won a winner medal with Bayern)

2x FA Cup winners medals

2x League Cup winners medals

2x European Super Cup winners medals

1x Community Shield winners medal

He also played in the 2002 FIFA World Cup Final as Germany went down 2-0 to Brazil.

Hamann joined Milton Keynes Dons last summer as player-coach and then later linked up with Sven-Göran Eriksson at Leicester City where he has continuted his coaching education.
