Paolo Di Canio has outlined plans for his sides return to pre-season training in the coming week.

Talking to the local press, Di Canio discussed his methods and plans.

JUNE 29-30

The squad return for pre-season training. The players will be divided in to two separate groups.

One will go through a power and fitness test with Claudio Donatelli and the other group with work with Paolo Di Canio and vie versa for the next days session.

JULY 1-3

The two teams will join together as a complete squad and train with Paolo Di Canio and his staff.

The plan is for a double session with a fitness regime in the morning and a tactics based session in the afternoon.

On Sunday afternoon the players will have the chance to prepare themselves for the next weeks work.

JULY 4-14

Town will travel to Norcia in the Italian province of Cumbria.

The club will have exclusive access to facilities including three pitches and gym.

Di Canio stated that he will also make use of the hills in the area for fitness. He also reiterated his desire to gel the team as a unit. The Italian made a point of saying that he wanted to avoid player cliques where possible. Players will have friends but will also get to know the other members (The Italian players won’t be allowed to simply socialise with their countrymen etc). Di Canio is keen to get rid of an atmosphere from last season which he observed as negative.

Players will train, dine and socialise together with a strict lights-out curfew. Di Canio told the press that ‘without discipline, we go nowhere’.

On Saturday July 9 at 1730 his side will player a Norcia Select XI which will consist of amateur players from the area. Di Canio stated that he wanted a steady return to playing and that ‘you can’t go up against Reading’ at this stage of pre-season.

The next fixture will come up against an unnamed side on July 13. The opposition isn’t exected to be a massive name within football.
